As the CEO of Atira Women’s Resource Society, Janice conceived of and launched Atira Property Management Inc. in 2002 in an effort to earn money to help support Atira’s not-for-profit mission; to support women and children affected by violence. Janice was recognized by BC Business Magazine as among BC’s Most Influential Women in Not-for-Profit, Culture & Media in 2015. She is described by the Vancouver Sun as one of Canada’s leading social entrepreneurs and in 2010 was awarded the Ernst & Young Social Entrepreneur of the Year award. She has been the CEO of Atira since 1992 and led the organization as it grew from a single transition house to a large, multi-service agency with more than a dozen programs and 16 non-market housing sites across the Lower Mainland. All of Janice’s work is driven by her passion to eliminate violence against women and children.
