Biography

Mwarigha is the General Manager of Peel Housing Corporation and has a strong background in community asset (property) management and integrated social and community revitalization in Toronto’s priority neighbourhoods, namely: Regent Park, Don Mount, Lawrence Heights and Jane Finch communities.  He has done research and written policy work in areas of immigration settlement and service delivery to low income communities, youth, seniors and immigrants.  His work experience includes the following community based organizations: Canadian African Newcomer Centre, Social Planning Council of Metro Toronto, Centre for Equality Rights in Accommodation, Toronto Community Housing Corporation, and Region of Peel (Peel Housing Corporation).

Peel Housing Corporation is the Region of Peel’s non-profit housing company.  Peel Housing Corporation is a recognized leader in housing management.  Also known as Peel Living, it operates as an independent corporation of the Region of Peel.  It is the largest landlord in the Region of Peel and the third largest social housing provider in Ontario.  Peel Living provides homes in our 68 sites to 15,603 residents.

Peel Living’s hallmark approach to building stronger communities is based upon mixing tenancies with varying income levels and a commitment to providing well-maintained living environments in each of it thousands of apartment and townhouse units.  Success is evident by the strong support of the broader communities.
