Biography

Rick is the General Manager of Housing Services and the General Manager of Housing York Inc. As General Manager of Housing York Inc., York Region’s housing company, he oversees the operation of 2,400 units of social housing and provides leadership and support for the development of new housing developments. He has over 35 years of experience in the social and affordable house industry. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Carleton University and a Masters Certificate in Municipal Administration from York University. He has served on many industry related boards and committees including Ontario Non-Profit Housing Association, Ontario Municipal Social Services Association, Alberta’s Interagency Council on Homelessness and the Brenda Strafford Society for the prevention of domestic violence. He is currently the Vice Chair of Housing Partnership Canada.

The Regional Municipality of York is one of six regional governments in Ontario and consists of nine municipalities. Local government is organized in a two-tier structure, providing services to a rapidly growing population made up of more than 1.1 million residents.

Housing York Inc., York Region’s non-profit housing corporation has over 2,400 affordable rental units, within 36 properties, located across all nine York Region municipalities. It is the seventh largest social housing provider in Ontario.
