Babu Bhattacherjee

Babu has over 30 years’ experience working for a range of community, voluntary and regeneration organisations in London and Manchester. He was appointed Director of Communities and Neighbourhoods for Poplar HARCA in 2009 and manages staff who deliver programmes such as youth activities, employment and training, playgroups and services for older people. He also has a lot to share about the positive benefits of community cafes and local childcare.

Regeneration is in the DNA of Poplar HARCA, where improvements to local infrastructure alongside high quality housing is essential to support the lives of people in Poplar. Babu has worked to gain community support for ambitious schemes, and helped to fund, design and run community, youth and health centres. 25 years on from the creation of Poplar HARCA, the impact of resident led regeneration is there for all to see.
