Biography

Hans Kogel, P. Eng, CIHCM joined Windsor Essex Community Housing (CHC) as Director of Asset Management in, 2009.   CHC owns and operates over 4,700 low income and market housing units with replacement value of approximately $600M in the Windsor Essex region.  Hans was corporately responsible for bringing excellence in leadership of Asset Management, Capital Projects, Maintenance, Engineering Services and Procurement from 2009 to mid 2018.  In July 2018, Hans was promoted to the position of Chief Development & Regeneration Officer where he is currently responsible for leading a strategic corporate re-engineering of CHC in the current environment of changing legislative requirements and decreased government funding.   This work includes executing a 15 year corporate wide regeneration plan that ensures growth and sustainability of housing and housing programs within the region of Windsor Essex.

As a member of CHC’s executive team, Hans has over 29 years of leadership experience in Engineering, Business Operations, Project Management, and Asset Management.  He has managed cross-functional international assignments within two multi-national manufacturing organizations working in Asia and Europe.  Hans is a graduate of the University of Windsor, having attained a Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) in 1985 and became a registered member of the Association of Professional Engineers of Ontario.

Hans has a passion for Asset and Business Management and develops and implements Strategic Plans and Continuous Improvement initiatives in both areas to maximize service delivery and asset value for all CHC stakeholders.  He is an active member of CIH,( Chartered Institute of Housing),  ONPHA, (Ontario Non-Profit Housing Association) PEO, (Professional Engineers Ontario ) OSPE,(Ontario Society of Professional Engineers), REIC,( Real Estate Institute of Canada)  and Treasurer for the IAM (Institute of Asset Management) Canada.
