Biography
After starting her career in private sector construction & development, Sheryl joined BC Housing in 2009. Her portfolio includes partnerships with other government agencies, municipalities, and non-profit housing providers in the delivery of community housing solutions in the Province. Sheryl is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) with academics in urban geography (UBC) and architectural and building technologies (BCIT). She has over 24 years of experience in design coordination, marketing, development, and construction management, in both the private and public real estate sectors. Her career portfolio is a diverse range of projects that includes multi-residential developments; master planned / mixed use communities; hotels; neighbourhood shopping centres; and regional retail centres.
As Provincial Director – Redevelopment, Sheryl manages the revitalization of aging BC Housing assets with the goal of modernizing sites to meet current housing needs and encouraging innovation and best practices in sustainable urban design, engineering & construction.
Sheryl is the 2023 Award Recipient – Women’s Leadership Initiative ULI (BC). Her career project list includes nominations and awards from sector associations such as: the Canadian Home Builders’ Association of BC; the Institute of Interior Design; the Urban Development Institute (UDI-BC); and most recently the National Urban Design Award program.
In her spare time, Sheryl has volunteered with Urban Land Institute (ULI-BC), co-leading the 2022/23 ULI-BC Partnerships for Health Equity team. She champions equity as part of the Accessibility Committee at BC Housing and augments her work with continued education in indigenous reconciliation, gender-based analysis+, climate adaptation, and mass timber construction science. She has also volunteered with Women of UDI(BC) and BC’s Chapter of the Forum for Women Entrepreneurs. Sheryl is enthusiastic about facilitating affordable housing options and creating vibrant, complete & inclusive communities in BC.
